Sungod Sunglasses Review

Alex

Sungod Renegades There is always a dilemma with sunglasses; buy a cheap pair knowing that they will break at some point and that’s fine because they were cheap. Or buy an expensive pair and hope that you might look after them a bit better but knowing that eventually you will probably break or loose them…

Nortent Vern 1 Tent Review

A review of the Nortent Vern 1 Tent When I first saw the Nortent Vern 1 I was immediately intrigued, low and sleek, it just looked different. I’ve long been a fan of tents in which one sleeps side to the door. This design allows a bigger door and a better view of the outdoors…

Hati’s Favourite Gear of 2023

Harriet Whiteley

Hati’s favourite gear of 2023 This was a year of attempted gear streamlining, which does not come naturally to my womble instincts. But alas, in a bid to minimise consuming, save a bit of money and instil some peace in my household, I have been most careful in what I acquire and where I acquire…

Rab Mythic Ultra Down Jacket First Impressions The timing of the arrival of this jacket couldn’t have been better. My first thoughts were how light the…

Aspirant Mountain Leaders rounding off their train Aspirant Mountain Leaders rounding off their training course with the expedition, where they spent a night camping in the mountains and hone their night navigation and camp craft.

The expedition can be the most enriching and rewarding element of your Mountain Leader training and assessment.

It’s certainly the main event and there’s no denying that your bag will be heavier, you will probably feel tired and you will probably be obliged to emerge from your tent in the night for poor visibility navigation.

On the flip side, it’s an incredible learning experience in managing yourself, your well-being in what can often be quite challenging conditions. It’s an opportunity to refine your camp craft, sort all your systems, and have a good old nosey at other people’s tents, stoves and camp cuisine. We learn through challenge after all!

For some the ML training is a step in their journey to a career outdoors, for others it’s an opportunity to learn to look after themselves and friends/family in the mountain environment. Whatever your motivation, you can learn more about the award and courses on our website.
