Family Adventure Days

Our bespoke family adventures are exciting, challenging and safe sessions that are fun for kids of all ages (even the grown-up ones). Leave the screens behind as we provide all the expertise and equipment and you choose from a range of activities for a tailor-made adventure.

Adventure overview

A family experience that is memorable for all the right reasons. Our family adventure days provide a safe environment to take on new challenges or just kick back and reconnect with nature. Its your choice if you want a dose of adrenaline, a less intensive day or days or somewhere in the middle.

Adrenaline junkies can choose from scaling cliffs, abseiling precipitous drops, zip lining through trees and exploring mini caves. It’s popular to mix adrenaline with some problem solving to challenge the grey matter and encourage team work on an adventure quest experience.

Every family adventure is different because our sessions revolve around you and your family and what you want to get out of the day. Our style and approach is flexible, so let us know what you fancy and we’ll tailor your day to your needs.

Highlights

Your family adventure day is all about fun, challenging and memorable experiences no matter your age. No family adventure day is like any other, but you may well return home with tales of the following activities:

  • Abseiling off a high bridge or down a cliff face
  • Rock climbing with views of the Peak District below your feet
  • Exploring the Peak District, navigating your way through hill, moorland and, yes, the occasional bog
  • Squirming through rock tunnels like a weasel (mini caving)
  • Hurtling down a zip line
  • Orienteering
  • Exploring underground
  • Shelter building and sleeping under the stars
  • Gorge Walking
  • Nature Art
Adventure Format

We usually meet at the Sir William at 0900 for refreshments, a safety briefing and equipment check before heading off.

What happens next depends on what you choose. To wet your appetite a few examples are:

Multi sport Adventure
A morning of rock climbing and weaselling and an afternoon of mini caving challenges and abseiling. Guide price – £235 for a family of two adults and up to three children. Suitable for age 7 upwards.

Adventure Quest
A real life computer game! Dropped off at a remote location, you choose to race the clock or another group in your party. Avoid capture whilst solving problems and finding clues to navigate to the next location and ultimately find the computer code before the bad guys. The clues can be in hard to access locations, so weaselling, rock climbing, abseiling and zip lining/high ropes are likely to be involved amongst other challenges. Guide price – £395 for a one day adventure with a family of two adults and three children and £595 for a group of up to 12. Suitable for ages 9 upwards.

Special Forces Adventure Weekend
Learn the skills to conduct covert reconnaissance (including scaling cliffs and abseiling) and live in the wilds whilst avoiding capture. Overnight in the woods before your real mission on day two… Guide price – £545 for a two day one night adventure for a family of up to five. Suitable for ages 11 – 99!

Whatever you choose, after a memorable day of exploring the Peak District, we head back to the Sir William for about 1645 to enjoy a well deserved brew (or hot chocolate). Unless of course you are staying out! In which case we light the Kelly kettle and prepare for night adventures or start making our shelters to sleep in!
