Climbing Wall Instructor
The Climbing Wall Instructor is a is a nationally recognised award which we run in Sheffield and the surrounding areas. It is administered by Mountain Training and covers the skills required to safely supervise climbers on purpose built artificial walls and boulders.
With indoor climbing now in the Olympics for 2020 the sport is rapidly growing. Beyond the Edge run regular Climbing Wall Instructor Award Training and Assessment courses on the great walls we have in Sheffield. So don’t delay book a course and start training your olympic prodigy…
Importantly our courses are fun and run in a friendly manner. We take great pride in the very high percentage of individuals who return for further courses.
In Apr 2018 the Climbing Wall Award changed its name to Climbing Wall Instructor in alignment with the renaming of other climbing awards administered by Mountain Training. The syllabus is virtually unchanged, and the remit, course length and broad structure is unchanged. For those with a Climbing wall Award Training course no conversion is required.
The Climbing Wall Instructor Award and the optional abseil module is suitable for climbers who want to work with groups in the outdoor sector, schools or in the voluntary sector. It is also useful for individual climbers who want to expand their knowledge and become safer climbers, demonstrating good practice whilst climbing indoors.
To be awarded the Climbing Wall Instructor Award a candidate must first register with Mountain Training then, complete a training course and subsequently after a period of consolidation, pass the separate assessment course. To register, you should have at least six months climbing experience and be at least seventeen years of age.
