Sungod Renegades
There is always a dilemma with sunglasses; buy a cheap pair knowing that they will break at some point and that’s fine because they were cheap. Or buy an expensive pair and hope that you might look after them a bit better but knowing that eventually you will probably break or loose them anyway.
However I think I’ve found a middle way! I got send a pair of Sungod sunglasses to review in June 2022. My intention was to use them to destruction and then write about how well they had coped. However here we are three years later and they are still going strong. Perfectly intact, perfectly usable and remarkably unscratched.
This period of hot sunny weather and has had me wearing them everyday. Realising I wasn’t going to break these anytime soon I thought I had better get writing.
Sungod offer a large range of products; sunglasses, cycling glasses and googles. The process of buying is quite simple, just go to the website https://www.sungod.co/en-gb and make your choices. I chose the Renegades and clicked on the custom tab which enabled me to pick my own colours of frame, lens and logo. You also have a choice of three lenses. The process is easy and you can see what your glasses will look like as you make your choices. If you order before 3pm on a working day they will ship the same day.

My Sungod Renegades. Still not broken after three years.
In Use
So over the last three years I’ve worn my Sungod Renegades at work and play for rock climbing, swimming, mountain biking, gravel biking, walking, trekking, scrambling and mountaineering. I’ve worn them in mountains, in deserts, in the sea and on glaciers.
They have been dropped multiple times, squashed into pockets, left in the bottom of rucksacks and jumbled around with masses of hard metal climbing equipment. They have survived this abuse extremely well. Unsurprisingly considering the There is some minor damage to the lenses but this isn’t effecting their performance.
An impressive feature of the Sungod range is that the frames are guaranteed for life. If you break the frame they will repair them free of charge. The lens are excluded but they do offer replacement lens kits. With this ability to repair and replace the various parts it would be perfectly possible to own pair of Sungod sunglasses for decades.
This ability to repair is environmentally excellent. I dread to think about how many broken sunglasses there are in land fill. Sungod are also like us here at Beyond the Edge members of the excellent 1% for the Planet scheme.
Conclusion
These sunglasses far exceeded my expectations. All I can really say to conclude is that after three years of heavy use and deliberate abuse they still haven’t broken!
