Hill Walking & Mountain Walking Courses Overview
Hill walking with Beyond the Edge can take you away from the crowds allowing you to experience the solitude of the Kinder plateau, the majesty of the ridges in the high mountains of Snowdonia or the historic summits and glens of Scotland.
Whether you are a hill walker thinking of taking your first steps or wanting to undertake more challenging walks, our courses will give you the knowledge and confidence to achieve your ambitions.
Courses are delivered by friendly, highly qualified instructors who will create a supportive environment to guide you at your own pace in learning new skills.
For first timers have a look at our Hill and Mountain Skills courses. These are nationally accredited courses designed to introduce you to the uplands and inspire you to undertake your own adventures.
For intermediates you can book a guided adventure, launch into the amazing and fun world of scrambling. Or try our self guided options.

The standard course list is below, but as with many of our adventures if you want to try walking or scrambling in the Lake District, Scotland or something different just contact the office and we will hatch a plan.

Hill Skills
This course is for those new or relatively new to hill walking and who want the skills and knowledge to safely undertake their own adventures in the upland areas around the UK.

Mountain Skills week
Learn the fundamentals for having safe and enjoyable mountain adventures. You will develop both day and night navigation techniques, learn how to scramble up and come down safely including use of a rope. This course crams lots of mountain adventures into a short time.

We can be hired to privately instruct these courses at a specific location or on a specific date to suit your requirements. Private instruction in summer is £205 per day for one or two days, and £195 per day for three or more days. Simply contact the office the office to enquire.
