Lunch is important. I’ve been trying to find better ways of managing my food when I’m instructing. I was just grabbing whatever I could find and usually ended up heading out with an energy bar and a banana chucked in my pack. The banana inevitably ended up squashed and the bar lost amidst the waterproofs, first aid kit and group shelter. A box of some sort was the obvious answer so with a bit of research I found the Elephant Box. The website said it was large and durable which were the two criteria I needed to tame my lunchtime chaos
Large and Durable
My first impression was that the Elephant Box was indeed large and that it definitely felt durable. Simply a thick stainless steel box and lid held together with strong and simple roll clips. It’s big enough for thick crusty sandwiches and bananas and deep enough for apples and oranges.
I’ve been using the Elephant box for two months and it’s been great. I can load it up with whatever variety of food I require for the day. If I over pack it’s strong enough for the lid to be squashed down and the clips will securely hold the lid on with zero chance of contents escaping. It fits nicely in my pack as well, I just shove it down between the back panel and the waterproofs and whatever other clothes I have with me. I have also used the lid as an impromptu chopping board. When I’m back home I can easily just wipe it out or if the box is particularly messy I can chuck it in the dishwasher.
Another good reason for buying an Elephant Box is that like us here at Beyond the Edge they are proud members of 1% For The Planet and and give 1% of their sales to environmental non-profits.
A simple and effective lunch box design that will last a very long time. The strength and durability is backed up with a 15 year guarantee. I’m sure I’ll be happily using my Elephant Box for many years to come.
