Dog First Aid

A highly practical, 8 hour dog first aid course covering canine emergencies when away from help.  Delivered by a Registered Veterinary surgeon who also works in Mountain Rescue.

Who is it for ?

Anyone who works with dogs or has a dog and spends time in the great outdoors.

Dog Outdoor First Aid – Course Overview

Practical dog first aid training delivered by a highly experienced tutor who is both a vet and an experienced Mountain Rescuer.

Dog first aid, just like human first aid in the outdoors, is about doing the basics quickly and thoroughly and not how much equipment you carry (although we do cover dog first aid kits!).

We cover the basics of dog first aid using the same DrCABCDE format as in all pre hospital emergency care and then practice them. We use canine training manikins and fun, highly interactive and realistic emergency scenarios to ensure learning is embedded and confidence in treating your dog in an emergency is increased.

We discuss Dog First Aid kits, what works and what is a gimmick. Most importantly how to improvise, as after all do you always carry a dog first aid kit when you walk your dog?

Beyond the Edge are one of the UKs most experienced providers of mountain experiences and courses. We strive to make our training both fun, friendly and highly informative. We take great pride in the very high percentage of individuals who return for further adventures and courses.

Importantly, we train at a lower ratio than most other Dog First Aid providers so you actually get to do the hands on practical learning.  We aim for our Dog First Aid training to help save your dog’s life and not just tick a box!

Please note – a room full of dogs is not a conducive learning environment, so please don’t bring yours along!
