Leave the noise behind and head out into nature. Trail running is great both for physical and mental health and its easy to start having great fun.
This one day Trail Running Techniques course looks at the technical trail running skills with the focus on the running techniques for heading off the tarmac.
Who is it for ?

We include how to create your training program and prepare for a first trail event / race.
Beyond the Edge are one of the UKs most experienced providers of training courses for hills and mountains and our courses are both highly informative and run by hugely experienced trainers. Importantly in our opinion, they are also fun and run in a friendly manner. We take great pride in the very high percentage of individuals who return for further courses.
Trail Running Techniques – Course Format
We mix the theory and practical together during the day so there is plenty of time to rest and learn. This is not a hard core running camp!
We start at 9am with an introductory chat over a cuppa in our training room. Next we plan a route and then look at how to warm up before heading out.
We practice our navigation and learn how to run on the wide variety of trail surfaces that the Peak District presents. This will include some video gait analysis and coaching.
On return, we rehydrate whilst discussing the benefits of a yoga and a stretching regime. We finish by looking at developing a training plan and how to prepare for and enter your first trail running event.
We aim to finish at around 4pm.

In the Peak District we work out of the The Sir William hotel. This is a comfortable Inn with stunning views over the Hope valley and it also serves great food (try the game pie if it’s on!).
