Peak District team building days are fantastic for getting away from the office and spending some time together as a group in the great outdoors. It allows you to focus on what really matters for success – your people. Peak District team building activities are a tried and tested way to develop a team, build confidence and leadership skills.
Beyond the Edge have considerable experience of team building, leadership development and management training. We have Masters level of academic management qualifications to back up the many years of practical experience gained leading and developing management teams both in the UK and internationally. We use personal experiences gained from leading groups in multinational, multiagency environments to the different, but equally challenging environment of the world’s highest mountains.
Individual organisations have different objectives for these events, ranging from improved communication, improved teamwork, confidence building, leadership development or just getting to know one another better and having some fun. We work with your organisation to develop an itinerary that fulfils your objectives and meets your expectations on cost and time.
We can provide one or more days of multi activities in the Peak District team building, or a multiday, multi activity team building expedition in Snowdonia or a Leadership development event with guest speakers and outdoor challenges to put the leadership theory into practice.
We normally use the amazing natural facilities of the Peak District as our outdoor classroom. Our Peak District team building events will often incorporate rock climbing, abseiling, navigational challenges, weaselling or gorge walking into the program. This will usually be coupled with more theoretical leadership exercises and always a structured review. This is to ensure lessons learnt in the great outdoors are able to be transposed to the work place.
Can everyone participate?
Whilst outdoor activities are often a key feature of our Peak District team building and leadership development courses, no activity is mandatory. Our instructors and facilitators will work with the group to ensure individuals dislikes or phobias are accommodated. Courses are suitable for most levels of fitness. If individuals have enough mobility to take a dog for a walk and climb a few flights of stairs they will be fine.
This varies depending on how many people, what you want to do, how long you want your training to last and the standard of any accommodation required (or you can source your own). As a rough guide price, a facilitator / instructor led single day for Peak District team building activities for up to 12 people costs in the region of £895.

What to wear
On a Peak District Team building day we normally suggest:
Several different layers will give you the most flexibility to stay warm. A thermal or T shirt with a sweater or fleece and a waterproof jacket. Please don’t wear anything valuable (including jewellery). Gloves are worth bringing and a warm beanie style hat – ones with a bobble will not fit under a climbing helmet.
On the bottom half, strive for flexibility in motion for a variety of activities. So walking trousers, yoga trousers, jogging bottoms etc are great and jeans are not. Jeans also take ages to dry if there is a rain shower.
Strong trainers or light hiking boots are best on the feet. No sandals or similar with exposed flesh.
We will ask you to remove all rings and other external jewellery when undertaking activities. This is so they do not get caught and injure you. Its usually sensible to leave anything you have in a safe place before you arrive.

If you want a longer team building or leadership development activity, we will work with you to plan the accommodation, meal requirements and after dinner speakers etc. Accommodation can range from an improvised shelter under the stars as part of a survival challenge, to Youth hostels with a self catering challenge as part of the team building experience or luxurious hotels.
