Scrambling Week

Snowdonia has enough high quality scrambling to fill several weeks, so in 5 days we can select the best routes on these majestic mountains. We will mix the classic Scrambles with some lesser frequented gems that make the activity so memorable.

Warming up gently, we will ensure everyone is happy and scrambling confidently on Grade I terrain before moving on to more challenging scrambles.

We start the week at a ratio of 1 instructor to 6, but as the ground gets steeper and as our confidence increases we will decrease the ratio to 1 instructor to 2 so that everyone gets the most out of each day.

Who is it for ?

The Scrambling week is for walkers who want to discover scrambling and have a fun packed week on the best Scrambles Snowdonia has to offer.

There are a huge variety of high quality routes available, possible scrambles are:

Crib Goch (Snowdon)

Probably the best known scrambling route in Wales. At Grade I, its popularity is justifiable with exciting locations steeped in high mountain atmosphere.

Crib Lem (Lech Du Spur)

A hidden gem of a route in an unfrequented part of the Carneddau, giving some delightful scrambling with stunning views finishing close to the top of Carnedd Dafydd. Grade I.

Tryfan N Ridge & Bristly ridge (Glyder Fach)

The jagged skyline ridge prominent as you drive along the Ogwen valley gives a great mountaineering day out. Classic Grade 1 scrambling with lots of variations if you want to make it harder lead via Cannon rock to the summit. Where with a jump between Adam and Eve (two stone pillars) you can claim the freedom of the mountain. A short descent to Bwlch Tryfan and the option of continuing the classic scramble to the summit of Glyder Fach via Bristly ridge.

Tryfan Bach followed by Bastow Gully Variant (Tryfan)

We start in the footsteps of the Everest 53 team, scaling Tryfan Bach (Grade III) before a walk up to and along Heather terrace gives us access to a lovely Grade II scramble up the E flank of Tryfan.

Chasm Face (Glyder Fach)

A grade 3, three star route that combines airy scrambling with a touch of caving. Pack a torch and good humour for an epically memorable day out.

Dolmen Ridge (Glyder Fach)

Another grade 3, three star route on Glyder Fach although without any caving!

Clogwyn y Person Arete (Crib-y-Ddysgl)

A grade 2/3, three star scramble that encompasses excellent climbing and a traverse of Crib Goch on the descent back into Llanberis pass.
