 BCU Level 2 Inland Kayak Assessment

This course is intended for those wishing to introduce and coach others in kayaking on flat water. It is also the stepping stone for those wishing to lead others on moving water as a level 3 coach. This is a one-day course for those wishing to be assessed to become a level 2 kayak coach.

Important

Pre-requirements

3 star inland kayak award

Canoe safety test. Current first aid certificate (min 4 hours)

Have attended a 2-day training course.

Have logged a minimum of 20 hours relevant coaching time

You must also register with the BCU  (Adbolton Lane, West Bridgeford, Nottingham, NG2 3AS) and bring with you to the course the stamped BCU C1 form. Without this you will not be able to attend the course.

Day 1   9.00 Introduction to course, syllabus, aims and objectives

            10.00 Meet the group. Provide a safe, enjoyable and educational experience for them

                12.00 Finish with the group

            13.00 Personnel skills

§ Rescues and towing

§ Anything we have not seen relevant to the award

            15.00 Debriefs

This programme is only a guideline it may change during the course. The venue will be decided nearer the time of the course

§ BCU C1 form - stamped.

§ Log book.

§ Certificates.

§ All your own kayaking equipment and clothing.
